The Brink of Time Consumption

In less than a week we will be running head-long into full-time school and part-time work. For as busy as this may sound, I'm stoked to be productive once again. Yes, moving in and getting situated is by definition "productive", but it cannot replicate the feeling of books being read, papers being written, deadlines being nailed, shifts being fulfilled and alarm clocks ripping you out of bed after what feels like 10 minutes of sleep. Student life.....nothing quite compares.
Hope you enjoy more pictures of our trip, the empty moving van, Frank and his son, Cody (our movers), and a view from the outside of our new home.

St. Louis At Last....

Thanks to all for your prayers and curiosity in visiting this blog. We have arrived safely in St. Louis and are now trying to unpack everything. The trip was actually cut short by a day after we resolved that camping was not the life for us another night. Long story short, we drove out of Fort Collins, Colorado at 6:20 am and set our sights on St. Louis. Well, some 16 hours later we arrived weary, but in one piece at our new apartment. In hindsight, I do not recommend such a feat of distance-traveled. There were times we literally thought the landscape was repeating itself in identical hills and fields (sorry all of you Kansas fans....beautiful, but unbelievably monotonous.

We shall post some pictures in the very near future.

Thanks again for checking in.

Here are some more pictures of our Teton campsite.

Tourism, A Compact Kitchen and Beauty Without End

Just a few pics from the road and becoming everything we loath about tourists.... "Here, Unassuming Local, can you take our picture?" Actually, I think we asked a fellow tourist, so there were no glares or hostilities exchanged. As for our cooking set up, it is the ideal camping kitchen, small and convienient. Finally, the landscape....truly breathtaking. Not only visual overload of beauty, but a silence only interruptted by the occasional passing RV.

So Now Wyoming

So now that we're in Wyoming, we have learned that Luke and I are not great long distance drivers. It seems every hour we take a pit stop. Whether it be to buy coffee, take a potty break, or see the scenery, we're continually pulling off that freeway. What would normally be just a 5 hour drive, turns into a 7 1/2 hour trek because we just can't stay in the car! But no complaints here, every moment has been enjoyable.

Our first night in the Grand Teton State Park was better than I could ever had expected. We didn't get settled until 7:00, but soon after, Luke pitched up the tent while I got the dinner "goods" ready. To make it easy on ourselves we had bagel sandwiches. And I must say, those bagel sandwiches were incredible...probably because we had been eating bars and dried fruit the whole eight hours earlier! (We used our new propane cooker to toast our bagels too.)

That night was FREEZING. For some reason we just thought the whole USA was going to by 80-90 degrees outside, so we packed accordingly. Utter foolishness. We made it through, and dug in our bag to find our sweatshirts and long pants. And for those of you who are keeping track of or "road trip menu" we had hash browns and scrambled eggs with green peppers, spinach, salsa, and Mexican mix cheese. Better than a restaurant could've fixed. Luke is such the chef.

Frank the Mover

When I first spoke with Frank on the phone he sounded like your typical truck driver--no nonsense, tell it to me straight kind of guy. And when we finally saw him in person on Saturday to pick up our stuff, his look perfectly complimented his demeanor. Complete with tattoos, a mullett, and cigarette in hand, he was ready to get this show on the road. He was a huge help in getting everything into our 10' x 81/2' x 9' space. Frank, if you're reading this, thanks so much, you have been great.

Well, we're in Jerome, Idaho right now about to pull out for Grand Tetons National Park. The KOA here was dandy, but we're ready for something more macho. More pictures on the way.
